Hello, and thank you for your interest in Body, Mind, Spirit Martial Art (BMS Martial Art).

BMS Martial Art, while based mainly on the philosophy and practice of Chinese kung fu teachings, has been modified to address the modern day stresses of urban living. A holistic self-defense system, BMS focuses on proactive health in life. It prepares the three aspects of the person: the body, the mind, and the emotional centre (spirit) against all forms of attack, whether from a virus trying to enter the body, a co-worker trying to muscle in on your job, self-doubt or self-esteem issues, or the more commonly thought-of physical attack that takes place in the street or in a bar.

BMS Martial Art has four areas of study: meditation, chi kung, martial science, and martial art. Together, they form a complete study of the human being both physically (e.g. body mechanics, fight/flight response), mentally (fear of failure, improvement of focus), and spiritually (dealing with negative emotions).

BMS does not require any initial level of physical fitness. It can be studied in work clothing (with comfortable, flat shoes), and prolonged practice provides an incredible array of health benefits not only for the body (such as increased, aerobic fitness, skeletal alignment, breath efficiency)  but also the mind and emotions.

BMS can be studied in regular classes with other like minded practitioners or privately, on a one to one basis, or a small group of your making for example parent and child, or you and your partner. BMS courses for companies/organisations can be arranged to suit work schedules taking place before or after work (7-10am or 5-7pm) or during lunch hours if necessary.

While we have a list of courses & seminars, please bear in mind that BMS is not an ‘off-the-shelf’ product; we prefer to tailor each course of study to the customer’s specifications. After an initial consultation we will then write to you to confirm what has been discussed before any agreement is finalised.
